The Gospel is the
too good to be true news of Jesus. It defies logic and sets us free. If your struggling with drugs, alcohol, depression, anxiety, or PTSD the answer is the Gospel. If your struggling with your relationships the answer is the Gospel. If your struggling with eating disorders or porn addiction the answer is the Gospel. If your struggling with your finances the answer is the Gospel. If your struggling with any physical illness or disease the answer is the Gospel.Doubt sometimes comes from hearing a message that we need to something to be in God’s favor and kindness. Whatever the issue is. The world has taught us that we need something, yet the 100% guarantee for victory in every area of our life comes down to two things. 1-How we see God? 2- Understanding the Covenant we live in. Just to be clear these two things, when viewed from the lense of freedom always include Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
How we see God is vital to every action and reaction we have in life. If we see God as a disciplinarian, looking to bash us over the head every time we screw up or place us in time out every time we get out of line. It is very likely that we need to be saturated with the too good to be true news. If we see God as an employer that gives us bonuses every time we succeed. It is also very likely that we need to be flooded with the undiluted Gospel of grace. If we think God is to busy to help us in our time of need. Then we need a heavy dose of the good news. If we know that God loves us even we think we screwed up. We need a constant reminder that God’s love doesn’t waver, is unconditional, and limitless! What we don’t need is a check list of what a good Christian does or doesn’t do!
God is LOVE. God keeps no record of being wrong. God holds no blessing back from any of his children. God doesn’t beat his children. God’s grace is always enough to overcome any issue in our life. The more we see God as a loving Dad the more we begin to live life more abundantly.
The Covenant we live in is not the Mosaic Law. Jesus fulfilled all of the law, and cut a New Covenant with our Father in heaven on our behalf. The New Covenant has no commandments, no list rules, and is forever. The New Covenant is the way, the truth, the life and is filled with love, more love, and seasoned with the light of the world. The New Covenant is the good news. It doesn’t get better if we fast, read the Bible daily, or attend church every week. It has nothing to do with us, but everything to do with us. Our God loved us so much that He came in flesh to serve us and bring everyone back into the family. Hallelujah! We are His children, who He is always well pleased with and we have been given His Spirit as a reminder that we are perfect just the way we are!
Our ticket to living in the freedom of God’s love, favor, and kindness is so simple that many people want to tell you that you need to perform, but fear not for what you do but rather celebrate what was done for you!
Some Good News truths:
- Nothing you do will ever seperate you from God’s love. (See Romans 8:31-39)
- You are permanently in right standing with God. (See Romans 3:22)
- God doesn’t care about your mess ups. (See Hebrews 8:12)
- God will never leave or forsake you. (See Hebrews 13:5)
- God see’s you as His perfect creation. (See Ephesians 2:10)
- Above everything else God want’s you to prosper and be in good health. (3 John 1:2)
- God will never be judge you. (See John 3:17-18)
- You are a joint-heir with the King of kings. (See Romans 8:17)
- You are perfect. (See Hebrew 10:14)
Any message that tells you that you need to do good to get good from God is not the too good to be true news of Jesus. For the Gospel is never about your sin, and always about your freedom in Christ! God doesn’t want you to be worried about a list of do’s and do not’s. He just wants your joy to be full. It’s really not a mystery of what God’s will is for you, the enemy just wants you to think it is.
We were given a mind, will and emotion so we could experience Gods mind, will and emotion. Hallelujah that “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed!”(John 8:36) Thank you Lord that today we can have assurance that we are free, to live in love!
Blessings, Kurt and Katy Adkins
